Hottest Female Voices Ever

OK. The last post started something VERY important. It's time to figure out who the Hottest Female Voices Ever are. We have already nominated Stevie Nicks as the hottest. Here are some other good choices:

Sinead O'Connor
Chrissie Hynde
Natalie Merchant
Amiee Mann
Belinda Carlisle
Joan Jett

NOTE: This is obviously a white man's list.

So let's come up with a Top 10 ranking. Who are we missing? Again, this is VERY important work. Please leave us your suggestions.

How about the great Eartha Kitt, with her low, husky voice, and the great husky alto, June Christy.

Erykah Badu, Lady Day

Here are some more for the white’s man list:

Shirley Manson
Charlyn "Chan" Marshall
Elizabeth "Z" Berg
Erin Fein

I think some of these won’t make it due to “obscuritiness”. Bonus points for making up a word?

I don't even know who in the hell you guys are talking about (except for Eartha Kitt, sorta), but I don't doubt that you're on to some fine things here. In these matters, there can be no accounting for taste.

Lady Day = Billie Holidy

OK. Billie Holiday is a nice choice. But we need some more comments. I really don't want to have to put a post up about last night's baseball game.

here's some from a female viewpoint for your consideration...Linda Ronstadt, Pat Benatar, The Bangles Susanna Hoffs, Ann Wilson of Heart, Christina Aguilera...p.s. i agree with your other choices too!

I had to watch the Royals on the out-of-town scoreboard at Busch. I have been afraid to read about how it all went down.

How about Annie Lennox?

Love the Linda Ronstadt pick. And Annie Lennox. Keep em coming.

P.S. The Royals were busy giving up unearned runs earlier today, but now they are apparently making a comeback. Aviles is hot again. And Teahen's not doing badly. But, don't worry, the Royals still suck really bad.

Does Geddy Lee count?

If the Royals have Pena on the Major League roster next year I'm becoming a Cardinals fan.

Don't make me do it Dayton.

WSPA said...

Geddy Lee is just the most awesomest person ever, but please don't make us think about him during any discussions involving gender.

Remember when the 2008 Royals were much improved over the 2007 Royals? Good times.

P.S. I am using this comments thread to post witty-cynical-stupid remarks for now because I'm too ashamed to use the main board.

I feel like we are on RoyalsReview right now.

Tracy Chapman?

The lead singer for The Cranberries?

The B52 girls?

Kim Deal (Pixies, Breeders)

Lots of good choices here. I would Chrissie Hynde at the top of your list. She's the hottest. Joan Jett was a bad Chrissie Hynde clone, but she's pretty hot, too.

Glad to see someone mention Kim Deal, too (although without Frank Black as a foil she's not much). But you're missing a few obvious ones:

Janis Joplin

Exene Cervenka (when she was with X, not as a solo artist). Again -- like Deal w/ Black and the Pixies -- she needs John Doe as a foil. Maybe the hottest duet voices could be a future blog post, just promise me that if you do so, you'll permanently ban anyone who mentions Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers.

Debbie Harry of Blondie

Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas. She wasn't as good a singer as Mama Cass, but she was better looking by a long shot.

Aretha Franklin. She's the Queen of Soul, and any good liberal white guy ought to include Aretha on the list to comply with Affirmative Action requirements.
